2019-2020 Season t.b.a.
November 14th, 2018 - 7PM
Requiem Mass
St.Thomas Aquinas Church
1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, NC
Musica Sacra: Messe des Morts a Quatre Voix by Marc Antoine Charpentier
(Charpentier wrote several settings of the REQUIEM Mass. This one, scored for 4 part chorus, multiple soloists, and continuo is filled with poignant, exquisite harmonies. As with all the pieces we sing, this is an eminently liturgical work and will be sung in the context of an actual Roman Catholic REQUIEM Mass. The beautiful REQUIEM plainchant will be sung in alternation with Charpentier's music.)
(Two performances - dates and times t.b.a.)
Adoramus te, Christe (Lenten devotional)
(We bring back this popular Lenten devotion for two performances this season. "Adoramus te, Christe is a program consisting of fourteen chant/polyphonic settings of the Adoramus te, Christe text. Sung in conjunction with the Stations of the Cross, a choral setting is given as a meditation on each successive Station. It is a singular program of great beauty and we are pleased to reprise it once again for your Lenten observance.)

Musica Sacra: Mass in G major by Franz Schubert (Orchestral Mass)
(We close our fifth season with the ever popular Mass in G major by Franz Schubert. Works gain popularity for a reason. The loveliness of Schubert's melodies and orchestration fill this sacred work for soloists, chorus and orchestra. It is a most accessible and beautiful work.)
